So the other day, I was chatting with my sista-friend
My “sista-friend”. My friend who has been there for me for so long and cared about me like I was family to the point that she’s always been and will always be my sista-friend.
Ok, glad we’re on the same page.
So I was chatting with her and the topic of drinking came about
For those of you who know me and have been following my blog for sometime, you’ll know that as of October 2016, I stopped drinking. Cold turkey. You can find that blog post here.
Now bear with me, because I just realized that’s it has already been a year and then some since that decision – wow. Kudos Amber…Kudos.
So this chat…
We were talking about drinking and I mentioned that I’ve had a few beers and a glass of wine this year – yep that’s right – but just a few.
& it led to her telling me this:
Did y’all hear me? Moderation is out here saving lives.
It is…it really is and I realized that I shouldn’t feel bad for “going back” on a promise I made to myself when that promise was made in order for me to have control. Which I do. Which I always have had and which I now realize I can put to use.
I just had to sit back and reflect
Reflect on having good girlfriends who are truthful enough to be real with you
Reflect on how moderation is truly an essential to living a balanced life
& reflect on how much good can come out of enjoying all things in moderation
I mean think about it…
Do you want to change your diet, but don’t want to give up your favorites? Moderation.
Do you want to enjoy a cocktail and not have to feel guilty about your alcohol intake due to your past? Moderation.
Do you overthink? Overwork? Overanalyze? You can still think, work and analyze. How do you do this in a healthy way? Moderation.
Think I blog too much and want me to blog less?
I kid. I kid.
Gotta make myself laugh sometimes, right? And yea, I’m getting a little gif crazy as of lately – I apologize. LOL
The moral of the story is, don’t beat yourself up over letting go and accept that everything in moderation is everything under control.
Now I bid you adieu!
*Edit: P.S. My sista-friend is another dope, black, female entrepreneur out here doing the damn thing! Check her out on www.glowofsunrise.com . You’re welcome music lovers, you’re welcome.*
